- Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity rehoming 60,000 cats every year through its large regional network of 29 Centres and 260 voluntary-run Branches.
- The charity neuters around 100,000 cats every year.
- Up to 7,000 cats can be in the charity’s care at any one time, cared for by approximately 5,500 volunteers
- 90% of the Cats Protection's work is carried out by volunteers
- Volunteers spend six million hours caring for cats
- The Charity helps 165,000 cats
- £2.5m is spent on neutering
- The current cat population is 7.5 million, almost twice the number it was 30 years ago. Cats are the UK’s favourite pet – they are low maintenance, affectionate and independent, and fit in well with urban, working lifestyles.
- There are 202 pens at the NCC’s Cat Adoption Centre, including 32 maternity pens, 26 isolation pens and 32 large family units
