Some Facts About the Derby and District Branch:
The Derby and District Branch was formed in 1968 and held its inaugural
meeting on the 29th of March that year.
The Branch covers a vast area with a population of approximately 400,000
and an estimated 200,000 cats.
We have facilities to care for approximately 50 cats and kittens in
foster homes which are always full.
The Branch is a self-funding, voluntary, registered charity functioning
within the rules and bye-laws as set down by the National body based
in Horsham, West Sussex.
The Branch is not part of the Cats Protection Shelter at Dalbury Lees
which is wholly owned and run by Headquarters at Horsham, West Sussex
The Branch is self-sufficient and we raise all our own funds to so
we can carry out our welfare work. Funds are raised by membership
fees, donations, events, legacies and our two charity shops.
Derby and district covers both urban and rural areas both presenting
many challenges.
The Branch has a membership of approximately 600.
A Branch Committee, headed by the branch co-ordinator, determines
the policies of the Branch and meets 12 times a year to consider financial
matters, discuss welfare issues and transact business.
As one of the 250 Branches of the Cats Protection we strive to care
for cats.
