Barneys Story

Barney was reported to us as a stray by a kind hearted member of the public. He was found to be living in a derelict house in a Derbyshire town. He had made a bed out of a filthy old mattress. His longhaired coat was dirty and matted, he was covered in fleas and is ears were full of ear mites. It goes without saying, he'd certainly been living a tough life during the cold winter months.

Barney was taken to the vets for a full health check as we do with all cats that are admitted into the Branch care. He had to endure a course of treatment for his ear mites and of course be treated for fleas and worms.

As he began to adjust to his new home in a luxury cat cabin with a heated bed and a regular supply of food and water, Barney soon transformed into the beautiful cat he once was before he found himself alone and wandering the streets.

From looking at these two photographs, the before and after, it's difficult to believe that it's the same cat. He became a firm favourite with our foster unit volunteers. He really came out of his shell and thrived on the affection that they all enjoyed bestowing on him. Needless to say, Barney soon found himself a home, however, sadly for Barney things didn't work out for him through no faulf of his own might I add!

Within a week or so Barney was back at the foster unit much to the disbelief of the volunteers. However, I'm happy to report that he is now settled happily in a new home and enjoying a fine life being the pampered moggy he so deserves to be!
