hello my name is Wilbur

Hello!

My name is Wilbur and I am the
Derby & District resident cat.

I came into the care of the Derby and District Branch in March 2003. I was in a horrible state and was living as a stray.

I am getting on a bit, I think I was about 12 or 13 when they picked me up. I'd never been neutered so wasn't very fragrant, I had a badly infected mouth so couldn't eat so was underweight but my tummy was bloated because of worms.

I didn't have much fur and what I did have was caked in dry mud which made my skin sore. Yep, I was in a poor way and when they came and got me they feared the worst. But I was taken to a vet and stayed in for four days before going to the branch's foster unit.

I love it in the foster unit. It wasn't long until my fur was back, my mouth healed and I put weight on. However I do have a long term medical problem and have a kind of nerve damage in my head which means I often have the shakes - it doesn't affect my everyday life that much but I'm told it makes me very special and as such they'd like me to stay here with them for good. I'm all for that! So on these pages I'll be keeping a diary, letting you know how I'm getting on and what's happening (I see and hear most of the Derby & District gossip!).
