Cat on boys' shoulderOwning a cat as a pet means children have a better understanding of medical procedures like X-rays, injections and surgery, according to a survey

A study carried out by Cats Protection shows that children aged between six and seven have a better understanding of health and illness if their families own a cat. The findings also show that children who live in households with cats have a better knowledge of healthy eating and the importance of exercise.

There are two resources to choose from for Key Stages 1 and 2:

  • An interactive Primary Science CD-ROM follows Willow the cat as she explores her family home and garden.
  • Cats in the Classroom helps deliver Literacy, Numeracy, Art and Design, ICT, Science and PSHE and Citizenship
